Cousins and Littlejohn Islands Improvement Association

Board Meeting – October 4, 2009
4 pm – Kern Residence

Meeting was called to order by President Jim Kern, Members present were Brenda Kern, Paul Knoll, Joan Santora, Karen McEntee, Mike Gentile, Joe Solmos, Scott & Sarah Morton, Amanda Feeley, & Amy Pearl.

Minutes of the Annual Membership Meeting of August 30, 2009 were read by Secretary, Joan Santora, accepted by President Jim Kern and seconded by Brenda Kern.

Nomination of Joe Solmos for Vice-President filling the vacancy left by Sue Malan.
Motion was made by Karen McEntee, seconded by Jim Kern and the position was accepted by Joe Solmos.

Discussion of Community House maintenance led by Mike Gentile who has been in meetings with Dan Jellis, Town Engineer, regarding roof replacement. He stated that he has received a bid for $56,000 for replacement of main beam and roof, but Town only has $52,000 allotted for ALL town buildings. Joe Solmos is actively collecting bids as well. Mike stressed the need to be vigilant about attending the Town Budget Meeting and informing all neighbors to attend as well.

Current Events for the remainder of 2009 are: Harvest Supper, Saturday, Oct. 17 at 5:30 pm @ CH, organizers: the McEntees, Halloween Party, Saturday, Oct. 31 @ 5:30 pm @ CH, organizer: Joe Solmos, and Holiday Party, Saturday, Dec. 5 @ 5:30 pm @ the CH, organized by Marti Mayne, with help from the Mortons.

2010 Planned Events: Egg Hunt on Sat. April 3, organizers: Amy Pearl & Amanda Feeley, Island Clean-up on May 22 from 9 – 11 am run by Joe Solmos, Spring Potluck, same day, 5:30 pm run by the Kerns (theme to be announced), Clam Festival Float Committee led by the Mortons, and possible Movie Night @ CH for the children, as well as an Ice Cream Social.

The meeting concluded at 5:45 pm with the next meeting to be planned after Paul Knoll receives notification from the IRS re: CLIIA’s tax status.
