Cousins LittleJohn Island Improvement Association Governing Board Meeting

March 6, 2005

 

Present:  Bill Hoffman, Bill Spach, Helen McBrady and Sharon & Vinny Fuerst, David Kenney (guest)

 

Topics of Discussion:

 

  1. Chapel Organ: The CI Chapel purchased a new organ and David Kenney kindly offered the old one to CLIIA for $100.  After discussion, the board declined the offer.  Bill S. will inform David of the decision. We might try to assist in marketing the old organ through our newsletter.

 

2.      Calendar of Events:

a)      Bittersweet Clearing at the Tinker Property - Saturday, April 16th [rain or snow date April 23rd] 9am – 12 noon approximately

Bill H. to coordinate with assistance from Sharon if needed.  Bill will write announcement text for Newsletter. Several have expressed interest in helping: Josh Royte [YCC], Ed Simmons, Bob Knecht, Joy Ahrens.  Bill H. will contact Josh R. to let the YCC know of clearing date[s].

b)     Spring Pot Luck DinnerSaturday, May 14th 6pm at the Community Center

Perennial Plant Exchange also included with this event.  Sharon and Vinny will coordinate.

c)   Garden Tour on Cousins and Littlejohn Islands – Saturday, July 23rd 10am – 2pm

Helen and Sharon to research this and determine if feasible. 4-5 gardens to investigate.  

Announce a possible tour in the Newsletter. Have participants sign in, receive a sticker/ name label, a guide sheet and sign a statement accepting personal responsibility for any damage or injury that may occur…CLIIA - Waiver/Held Harmless from any fault.

d)   Annual Meeting of CLIIA - Sunday, August 28th 7pm at the Community Center

Desserts are brought and served by everyone.  Helen will coordinate this event.

e)   Harvest Potluck Dinner – Saturday, October 15th 6pm at the Community Center

George and Karen McEntee will coordinate this event

f)   Halloween Event - To be Determined

Andy and Lisa Sanford most likely to coordinate event.

 

3.   Newsletter:  Sharon will call Marti to see if she wants to still do the Newsletter or wishes to pass it on. Helen McBrady offered to take it over. Sharon will get logo for the newsletter.  Newsletter is to be completed and delivered 2 weeks before the Bittersweet Clearing date [March 26th or so].  Helen and Sharon will circulate the draft Newsletter for review before final printing. About 325 copies are needed for distribution.

 

4.      Website: Sharon will call Julie Hensley to see if she has time to manage the website.  If not, Sharon can contact Paul Knoll to see if he is interested in helping out.  (The website is $100/year to host site plus $20/year for 2 domain names.  They are cousinsandlittlejohnislands.org and cousinsandlittlejohnislands.com).  Paul will receive meeting notes and will be looking for news/pictures to add to the site.

 

5.      Email Addresses: Email addresses and phones will be collected whenever the opportunity arises.

 

6.      Community Center Cleaning:  Lisa and Andy will coordinate a thorough cleaning of the CC.  Bill S. will turn on the water around April 1st.  There is a scheduled event on April 30th.
