Cousins and Littlejohn Islands Improvement Association
Board Meeting –
January 6, 2008
5:30 pm McEntee’s Home
- Meeting
was called to order by Sharon Fuerst, President. Members present were Bill
, Vinny, Karen, Brenda & Jim, Melanie, Paul and Joan.
- Paul
gave the Treasurer’s Report: There are about 108 paid up members up
from 20. There is $915.00 in
treasury from membership drive & CH rentals; Expenses were $663.00:
$150.00 mailing, $100.00 Halloween party, $200.00 Lawn maintenance,
checking acct. balance: $1112.00, TD Bank North has CDs worth $3900.00
combined.
- Bill
spoke re: Maintenance of CH. Mike Gentile is looking into
replacement of water heater. Electric water heater is $1000.00 installed,
propane hot water heater estimate is $2000.00 installed which is larger
& would supply more hot water. Bill was told by the Town to wait until
Spring for their reply on replacement. The water has been shut off in
kitchen, but there is water on in bathroom. At this point, Sharon
distributed keys for the CH and shed to all board members who did not have
any.
- Liability
Insurance for renters of CH and CLIIA.
- Re:
liability insurance for renters of CH. Everyone renting CH needs
insurance. Some homeowner’s policies have extended liability for
coverage, others do not. If not, Event coverage for $500/day and a bit
more to cover alcohol will be needed. If hire caterer or bartender who
will be self-insured to serve alcohol, they may still need general
liability insurance. Joan noted getting an umbrella to their own
homeowner’s policy for a much less fee of $75/year, if they cannot extend
their liability. Jim Kern suggested the Town may have a rider added to
their policy. Sharon will speak
with the Town and report back.
- Re: liability insurance for CLIIA. The cost is about $350/year to cover
the Association’s meetings and social gatherings. Liquor used at social gatherings would
also be covered. Association members who rent for their own use will need
to get coverage on their own or Association would make arrangements?
- Paul
reminded everyone of the Wildlife Committee nature walk on Sat. Feb.
2 @ 10 AM starting at the CH. He will put reminders on the website as well
as post sign at the bridge. He also talked about speeding on Cousins
Street. He suggested that we have a sign made up welcoming people to the
islands and asking for adherence to our speed limit of 25 mph. He will get
estimates.
- Melanie
Solmos will use existing spreadsheet to compile responses from our recent
membership interest survey so groups can begin. Strategy to be discussed
at our next meeting.
- Meeting
was adjourned at 7 pm with next meeting to be held on Thurs. Jan. 31 @
7:30 pm at the Santora’s home @ 47 Wharf Road.
- Respectfully
submitted, Joan Santora, Secretary
