HALLOWEEN Party Volunteers Needed

Neighbors, I am looking for a few volunteers to help with treats for Halloween at the Community House. In the past we have had about 7-10 families volunteers drop-off goodies to share with all the kiddos who stop thru during Trick –or- Treating.  It would be great if I can get same amount of volunteers this year. Some suggestions are cookies, cupcakes, candies, juice boxes/drinks… 1-2 dozen per family has worked out in the past.  If you can help please email me so I can get final number and have the goodies drop-off at the CH around 4-4:30pm on October 31st.

Also, if anyone is interested in volunteering to help set-up and decorate the Haunted House. We will be setting up on Saturday October the 28th at 10 am – 2pm and Sunday October 29th 10am – 1pm. You may work as much or little as you like. High school students can earn community service hours!!

You may call Joe with any questions 451-7083

Haunted House is October 31st 5:30 -8:00pm

Thank you all for your time and help!

As you have probably heard, Ted Walls has been wheelchair bound as a result of the traumatic injury he incurred last summer. He is currently receiving intensive Physical and Occupational Therapy three times a week. Some wonderful people have volunteered their services by driving Ted’s wheelchair-adapted van to his appointments at New England Rehab, aka the old Brighton Medical Center. We could use a few more drivers! Once a week, once a month, whatever time you have to give will be much appreciated.

We have a few dates during the last week of September for which Ted needs drivers. (BTW, doing this for Ted also gives Donna a much-needed break!) The trip to Portland and back and Ted’s back-to-back therapy appointments, take approximately three-hours. Ted’s wheelchair is motorized, so, other than opening the door and securing his wheelchair, he independently moves in and out of the van. He will teach you how to secure his chair (a simple but important procedure) and give you directions to New England Rehab. He’s a fantastic teacher!

BE ON GUARD! Burglary on Cousins Island

BE ON GUARD! There was a burglary on Cousins Island on Tuesday during the day. It happened at a house near the power lines and west side trail on Cousins Street. The police are working on the case. Keep valuables out of sight, lock windows and doors, report any suspicious activity to the Yarmouth Police. Let’s work together to keep our community safe!
