Join us for the annual egg hunt and celebration!  There will be a seed planting project, face painting, yummy treats and plenty of community fun!  Bring your baskets for collecting eggs.

We’re asking for contributions so please let us know if you can bring something (contact Susie and she’ll coordinate).  Suggested items:  Fruit, Juice, Coffee, Milk, Cream, Muffins, Paper Plates, Napkins, and any other goodies!

Join the Island Carolers on December 21st – meet at The Community House!

Let’s get together for some holiday caroling.  Sing a few songs, drink a little hot cider, and spread some holiday cheer.  Meet at the Community House about 6:30 pm.  If you know of anybody who could use a little seasonal cheer (or would just get a real kick out of being serenaded) please bring or send over their address.  Afterwards, we will gather at the Baker household at 237 Cousins for some snacks.  Singing talent not required.  If you need to arrive a bit later, call 482-9436 and we’ll tell you how to find us.

Island Holiday Party this Saturday, December 4th from 5-7pm

HOLIDAY PARTY REMINDER!

Don’t forget about the Islands-wide Holiday Party this Saturday, December 4th from 5-7pm.  There’ll be plenty of merriment and cheer, plus crafts for the kids, seasonal music and tons of great food!

Please bring an appetizer to share and any adult beverage you’d like to enjoy and share.  There’ll be non-alcoholic beverages provided.

 Optional:  We’ll be collecting unwrapped toys and canned goods for distribution via the Yarmouth Food Panty, so feel free to bring something to put under the tree.

Sunday, November 21st – Royal River Conservation Trust work day at Littlejohn Island Preserve

“The Royal River Conservation Trust is sponsoring a work (1/2) day at their Littlejohn Island Preserve on Sunday, November 21 from 10am-1pm. Please come join us to see what we have been working on or to lend a hand. For more information or to get on our mailing list please feel free to give me a call or email (Kyle Warren- kwarren@rrct.org or (207)632-6112). I hope to see you there. I will have plenty of tools on hand but certainly feel free to bring your own favorite trail building tools wheelbarrows and hammers.

 In an effort to be the best neighbor we can be, please help us recognize the limited parking we have at the end of Pemasong Lane Extension. Please either meet up with us that the parking space near the Causeway to carpool, ride your bike or walk into the preserve.”

Save-the-Date: Cousins and Littlejohn Island Holiday Party, December 4th

COUSINS and LITTLEJOHN ISLAND HOLIDAY PARTY – Saturday, December 4, 2010

5:00-7:00pm at the Community House

Please bring an hor d’oeuvre or appetizer to share and a bottle of cheer (also to share).  Non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.

There’ll be pine boughs and trees,  holiday lights, music and crafts for the kids, plus plenty of neighborhood merriment!

Optional: We’ll be collecting food (canned goods, boxed staples) for the Yarmouth Food Pantry

Also, if you wish to bring a gift for a needy child or adult, please bring it unwrapped.  We are working with The Root Cellar to offer gifts for needy families.

Halloween Haunted House – Sunday, October 31st – 5:30pm-8pm

Please join us for ghost stories, a haunted house, zombies, and treats for the little ones at the Cousins Island Community House on October 31. Storytelling will begin at 5:30. The haunted house will open at 6:15.

Yarmouth Contemporary Music Days – October 28-31, 2010

Vinny Fuerst, Cousins Island resident and past CLIIA treasurer and board member, is founder and director of the Pytheas Center for Contemporary Music. [He's hoping to see some familiar faces at this weekend's events ... so come on out and join the fun!]

The Pytheas Center for Contemporary Music presents Yarmouth Contemporary Music Days, a series of music events taking place Thursday through Sunday, October 28-31, involving Maine composers, musicians, educators, artists, and students.

Let’s Talk Music – Thursday, Oct 28th, 6:30 PM, Bay Square at Yarmouth Film and Music – Friday, Oct 29th, 7:30 PM, “The Log Cabin”, Yarmouth Ten by Ten – Saturday, Oct 30th, 2 PM, North Yarmouth Academy, Higgins Hall Visual Art and Music: Music as Inspiration – Sunday, Oct 31st, 2 PM, Yarmouth High School Art Room

All events are FREE and made possible by a grant from Yarmouth Arts. Donations will be accepted at the door of each event and go toward funding the Pytheas Center. For more information contact the Pytheas Center at 207-846-6658.

The four day Yarmouth Contemporary Music Days features contemporary music with film, visual art, and live performances. Day one, Let’s Talk Music , combines listening with discussions of contemporary music. Day two, Film and Music, brings together films with soundtracks by contemporary composers. Day three, Ten by Ten , presents performances of 10 pieces written by 10 contemporary composers. Day four,Visual Art and Music: Music as Inspiration, is a gallery walk through art inspired by contemporary music and created by area artists and students.

In addition to the four events, the Pytheas Center’s website (www.pytheasmusic.org) will present information related to each event, as a means to extend and expand the cultural experience. Information on the composers will be available, as well as a wide variety of other resources relating to contemporary music.
