2012 Casco Bay Islands Directory Information
You are receiving this as a courtesy to Peg Astarita. This is not associated with the CLIIA. As a member of the CLIIA, you are not obligated to respond in any way. Thank you – Melanie Solmos
My name is Peg Astarita, I have lived on Peaks Island for 17 years and I publish a phone directory for 7 Islands in Casco Bay every two years. This year I would like to include Cousins and Littlejohn Islands. Those numbers cannot be culled from Fairpoints records where I buy the numbers. I would like to ask if you would like to have your information included in the 2012 Island Directory that will be coming out in early December 2011? You can get more details about the Directory itself from the website www.phonebookpublishing.com. The information on the site covers the 2010 edition and the great features have been consistent since the first edition in 2002. If you would like your information included, please send it to me at astarita@maine.rr.com. It will only be used by me for making the directory. I hope you will consider my request. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 766-5997 or at astarita@maine.rr.com.

Volunteers NEEDED for Tinker Brush Cutting 6/18/11 9am-noon
Every year, Islanders and others volunteer to clear away the invasive Asiatic Bittersweet on the Tinker Property. Please join us this year on June 18 from 9-12. Contact David Adams for more info. dadams12@myfairpoint.net; 846-9338.
Tinker Field Invasive Plant Mitigation Plan for 2011
The Yarmouth Parks and Lands Committee has budgeted for limited cutting of the extensive remaining Asiatic Bittersweet infestation within the wooded section along the road and will mow several times this summer. In addition, the limited areas of the stonewall within the field and the farm house foundation will be treated with a herbicide since that appears to be the only practical or effective way to eliminate the invasives protected by the wall stones. The volunteer brush clearing day is scheduled for Saturday, June 18’th, 9 to noon, and unlike previous years will concentrate on the wooded sections where simple cutting, clearing and mowing has proven to be effective (come and compare the current appearance to that of only a few years ago!).

Island Clean-up 9am 5/21/11 Sandy Point
WE NEED YOU!!!! IT’S IMPORTANT!!!
Our islands are beautiful and precious places; to be enjoyed and embraced. Unfortunately, every Spring we find that through-out the winter, the mark of human population has taken its toll. Yes, I mean LITTER!
Our annual island clean-up is very important. Each year generous volunteers spend a few hours collecting litter. These folks ensure that the enjoyment of the islands continues for all.
On Saturday, May 21st, we need your help. Please give a few hours of your time.
The group will meet at Sandy Point at 9:00am. From there, trash bags will be handed out and territories assigned.
BRING GLOVES and WEAR YOUR SAFETY VESTS. Additional safety vests will be provided to those who have not yet received them.
****ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: YOUR HOURS WILL COUNT AS COMMUNITY SERVICE. FEEL FREE TO INVITE FRIENDS FROM OFF THE ISLANDS TO HELP US AND EARN HOURS.
Questions call Joe Solmos 451-7083.
